HB 377: Regards use of light-based medical devices for hair removal
The law governing the application of light-based medical devices for hair removal is being revised. A physician can delegate the use of these devices to an advanced practice registered nurse or a licensed practical nurse. To delegate, the physician must ensure the delegate has received adequate education and training, including eight hours of basic education on light-based procedure physics, tissue interaction, and safety. The delegate must also observe at least 15 procedures performed by a physician with expertise in the specific device. Additionally, the delegate must perform at least 20 procedures under the direct physical oversight of the physician. Delegation is not allowed to a physician assistant without an effective supervision agreement or to a person who has not completed the required education and training.
