HR 299: Honoring the Miami Fort Generating Station on its One Hundredth Anniversary.

1WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to

2the Miami Fort Generating Station as it celebrates the One Hundredth

3Anniversary of its founding; and

5WHEREAS, This is, indeed, an important occasion, and it provides

6an ideal time to acknowledge the illustrious history and vital

7contributions of the Miami Fort Generating Station. Commencing

8operation in 1925, this coal-burning power station has experienced

9tremendous growth and expansion, including the addition of two new

10units, and it currently generates 800 megawatts of electricity each

10day; and

12WHEREAS, Over the years, Ohio has faced an ever increasing demand

13upon its utility infrastructure, and the Miami Fort Generating Station

14has kept pace with these challenges, adopting new technologies and

15updating equipment to better meet the needs of our state's residents.

16Indeed, the facility has continually demonstrated its exemplary

17commitment to the highest industry standards of efficiency and

18workplace safety, and its impressive record of service over the past

19century readily explains why it is so widely held in high esteem; and

21WHEREAS, The noteworthy success of the Miami Fort Generating

22Station is attributable largely to the loyal service of the qualified

23and committed staff, as well as to the innovation and foresight of the

24management, and all those who have been involved with operations are

25to be applauded on their tremendous efforts. It is through the work of

26citizens such as these that Ohio continues to be a pleasant place in
