SB 330: Enact the Student Wellness Act
This bill allows school districts to count a student's mental health day as an excused absence. A school district board of education can adopt a policy to implement this rule. The policy must include a definition of what constitutes a mental health day, a limit on the number of mental health days a student can take each year, and a method to determine whether the student will receive support services. The bill is known as the Student Wellness Act.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:5
Section 1. That section 3321.044 of the Revised Code be 6enacted to read as follows: 7
Sec. 3321.044. A school district board of education may 8adopt a policy that permits the district to count a student's 9mental health day as an excused absence. The policy shall 10include all of the following: 11
(A) A definition for what qualifies as a mental health 12day: 13
(B) A limit on the number of mental health days a student 14may take each school year: 15
(C) A method to determine whether the student will receive 16or be referred to school health or support services. 17
Section 2. This act shall be known as the Student Wellness 18Act. 19
