The resolution honors the Cardington Volunteer Fire Department on its 150th anniversary. The department has achieved an admirable record of service to the community since its founding in 1874. The members of the fire department have often risked their own safety to ensure the well-being of their fellow citizens, earning their gratitude and respect. The resolution congratulates the department on its anniversary and salutes its members as some of Ohio's finest citizens.

A R E S O L U T I O N
Honoring the Cardington Volunteer Fire Department on its One Hundred Fiftieth Anniversary.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to the Cardington Volunteer Fire 2
Department on the One Hundred Fiftieth Anniversary of its founding; 3
and 4
WHEREAS, Recognition of this event is a fitting tribute to the 5
Cardington Volunteer Fire Department, for since its inception, this 6
praiseworthy organization has achieved an admirable record of service 7
to the community. Established in 1874, the agency has been a vital 8
instrument for local safety, responding to even the most challenging 9
of emergencies with speed and professionalism, and its commitment to 10
excellence has been clearly visible in all of its endeavors; and 11
WHEREAS, Over the past century and a half, the Cardington 12
Volunteer Fire Department has witnessed many changes in the field of 13
emergency services, and it has worked diligently to keep pace with 14
these challenges. Indeed, the agency’s achievements are a justifiable 15
source of pride and an outstanding reflection not only on the 16
department itself but also on its current chief, Gary Goodman, and his 17
predecessors, on its dedicated firefighters, and on the entire 18
community; and 19
WHEREAS, While many people are content to take a passive role in 20
life, the members of the Cardington Volunteer Fire Department have 21
often risked their own safety to ensure the well-being of their fellow 22
citizens, and the enthusiasm and devotion to duty that they have shown 23
have earned them the gratitude and respect of the community they have 24
so capably served. We are certain that as they maintain their 25
dedication to service, these individuals will continue in the 26

tradition of excellence which has long been the department’s hallmark; 27
therefore be it 28
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General 29
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate the 30
Cardington Volunteer Fire Department on the auspicious occasion of its 31
One Hundred Fiftieth Anniversary and salute its members as some of 32
Ohio’s finest citizens; and be it further 33
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 34
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Cardington Volunteer Fire 35
Department. 36
