California · Assembly · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified December 6, 2025

What AB 1002 does, verified December 6, 2025

The bill authorizes the attorney general to bring a civil action against a contractor for failing to pay workers their full wages, as required by state law. The attorney general must notify the registrar before taking action and can seek to suspend or revoke a contractor's license, deny an application for a license, or deny the continued maintenance of a license. The court will issue an order directing the registrar to take one of these actions. The board can also intervene in a proceeding brought under the bill's provisions.
