What AB 1005 does, verified December 7, 2025

The bill aims to improve drowning prevention in public schools. It requires organizations that provide drowning prevention information to schools to provide materials in English and encourage them to provide materials in other commonly spoken languages. These materials should be made available at no cost to the school and can be shared with pupils and parents. The state department of education will gather and make available online resources and curriculum for schools to teach water safety and drowning prevention. The state department of public health will review and evaluate existing regulations to ensure clarity and consistency with current public health practices.
