The bill aims to amend the education code, government code, and public resources code to provide more favorable treatment for housing development projects on real property owned by local educational agencies. A housing development project is deemed an allowable use if it consists of at least 10 units, with a majority of units restricted for lower-income or moderate-income households, and is rented to employees, public employees, and general members of the public. The bill applies the requirements of the housing accountability act to review these projects, and extends the provisions until January 1, 2036. It also specifies that the governing board of a school district is authorized to elect not to appoint a school district advisory committee for excess real property used for teacher or school district employee housing subject to these provisions.
