AB 1147: School districts: reorganization: State Department of Education approval process.
This bill authorizes the state department of education to transfer territory from one school district to another under specific conditions. The conditions include that at least 95% of a city is contained within the boundaries of a single school district, there are no school facilities located within the territory being transferred, and the city council votes to petition the department for this transfer. The bill establishes a process for approving territory transfer agreements between impacted school districts and the city, and requires the department to develop regulations for this process.
