AB 1204: Local control funding formula: school districts and charter schools: pupils experiencing homelessness: supplemental and concentration grants: regional adjustment factors: grade-span adequacy adjustments.
This bill aims to amend the local control funding formula to better support students experiencing homelessness and to address regional cost differences in housing and labor. The formula will include a base grant that is adjusted for inflation, and a supplemental and concentration grant add-on based on the percentage of unduplicated pupils, including those experiencing homelessness. The bill will also require additional services for targeted pupil groups and establish transition adjustments to implement the changes. Additionally, the bill will require the state to reimburse local agencies and school districts for certain costs mandated by the state, and to fully transition the local control funding formula by the 2030-31 fiscal year.
