AB 1299: Parking violations.
This bill aims to amend the vehicle code by allowing issuing agencies to reduce or waive parking penalties under certain circumstances. The bill would permit the agency to consider extenuating circumstances such as documented homelessness status, financial hardship, or other relevant factors when determining payment options. The bill also seeks to broaden the timeframe for requesting a payment plan, allowing individuals to file at any time rather than being limited to 120 days after the notice of violation or 10 days after the administrative hearing determination. Additionally, the bill would enable the agency to defer payment if a contestant provides satisfactory evidence of inability to pay in full.
