AB 1359: Jury service exemptions.
This bill aims to amend the code of civil procedure to expand jury service exemptions. Currently, an eligible person can only be excused due to undue hardship upon themselves or the public. The proposed law would allow individuals 80 years of age or older to seek a permanent excuse from jury service without needing supporting documentation from a healthcare provider. The court would then permanently excuse such individuals. The judicial council would be responsible for implementing these provisions and updating relevant rules and forms.
