AB 1469: Disaster preparedness: public water systems.

California · Assembly · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified February 3, 2026

What AB 1469 does, verified February 3, 2026

The bill aims to enhance disaster preparedness for public water systems in California. Public water systems with 10,000 or more service connections are required to review and revise their disaster preparedness plans with related agencies. These plans must address possible disaster scenarios. The bill also requires public water systems to provide an assessment of their emergency response and recommendations to the legislature within six months after a declared state of emergency. The Office of Emergency Services will establish emergency response and recovery plans in coordination with these public water systems. The bill makes nonsubstantive changes to these provisions, ensuring that the plans are sufficient and implemented in a timely manner.
