AB 1552: Public postsecondary education: civic engagement: recommendations report.
This bill aims to enhance civic engagement and knowledge of American democracy among students at California's public postsecondary institutions. It requires the chancellors of the California State University and California Community Colleges, and the president of the University of California, to report on recommendations to facilitate greater civic engagement opportunities for students by the 2028-29 academic year. The recommendations should include any necessary support from the legislature to achieve those goals. These provisions are set to expire on January 1, 2033.
