AB 1570: Health care coverage: diagnostic imaging.
The bill aims to expand health care coverage in California by requiring health care service plans, insurance policies, and self-insured employee welfare benefit plans to cover diagnostic imaging services without cost sharing. This includes screening mammography and medically necessary diagnostic breast imaging for certain individuals, such as those with a risk factor associated with breast cancer. The bill also provides coverage without cost sharing for diagnostic imaging following an abnormal mammography result. The state is not required to reimburse local agencies and school districts for costs associated with implementing this new coverage.
