What AB 1822 does, verified June 8, 2026

This bill aims to improve school facilities by prioritizing projects that address extreme heat and climate change. The state allocation board is authorized to include these priorities in its project applications, starting from January 1, 2027. The new priorities will apply only to projects submitted after this date. The bill also builds on the existing Leroy F. Greene State School Building Lease-Purchase Law, which aims to reconstruct, remodel, or replace inadequate or outdated school buildings, and to acquire new school sites and buildings for local school districts.
