AB 1964: State Fire Marshal: home hardening.
This bill requires a county recorder to maintain construction records related to home hardening, imposing additional duties on county recorders and establishing a state-mandated local program. The state fire marshal is tasked with compiling a report on homes in moderate, high, and very high fire hazard severity zones by January 1, 2030, and making it available on its website by July 1, 2030. The report will include information on the number of homes that meet home hardening criteria and those that require more hardening in each responsibility area and county. Reimbursement for costs mandated by the state will be made according to statutory provisions if the commission on state mandates determines that the bill contains such costs.
