These provisions currently allow governing boards to lease property for a minimum rental of $1 per year if the lease requires the lessee to construct a building to be used by the school district. The leasing process must be based on a competitive solicitation process and award the contract to the proposer providing the best value to the school district. The current provisions will remain in effect until July 1, 2027, and will be repealed on January 1, 2028.
