AB 2178: Community colleges: county probation departments: instructional service agreements.

California · Assembly · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified August 25, 2026

What AB 2178 does, verified August 25, 2026

This bill aims to provide academic or career technical education courses at juvenile justice facilities operated by county probation departments. A home community college district can enter into an instructional services agreement with a county probation department to offer these courses. If the home district is unable to do so, a non-home community college district can enter into a similar agreement. The bill prohibits the home district from interfering with the non-home district's ability to provide instruction at the facility. The goal is to increase access to postsecondary education for justice-involved students.
