<p>The bill amends California's building standards law to allow controlled environment horticulture spaces using single-paned glass windows and thermal curtains, shade cloths, or equivalent technologies to be considered compliant with the California energy code if deemed as efficient or more efficient than current regulations by the Energy Commission. This provision would remain in effect until the next triennial update of the California Building Standards Code. The bill also requires the commission to adopt building standards for controlled environmental horticulture spaces and conditioned greenhouses, allowing them to use alternative technologies such as thermal curtains, screens, shade cloths, or equivalent methods instead of double-paned glass windows or multiple glazings separated by air or gas. This would increase local officials' duties and impose a state-mandated local program.<…
