This bill amends the California Government Code to regulate county recorder fees. The county recorder must provide access to a true copy of the public record for each recorded instrument, paper, or notice. The bill sets new fees for recording and indexing, with a flat rate of $15 for the first page and $4 for each additional page. Nonconforming print spacing and page dimensions are no longer allowed, and $1 of each $3 fee is no longer deposited in the county general fund. The bill also restricts other fees, such as those for electronic recording delivery systems, to be used solely for the county recorder's office. Additionally, the bill repeals certain provisions related to electronic recording delivery systems and allows county recorders to accept digital or digitized electronic records without restrictions.
