AB 2230: Child daycare facilities.
This bill aims to protect the voting rights of California residents by making it a felony for immigration enforcement personnel to be stationed near polling places. A peace officer or security personnel can be stationed at polling places with authorization from the elections official. The bill also prohibits immigration enforcement personnel from being within 100 feet of licensed child daycare facilities, except in cases related to their own children. Additionally, the bill restricts employees of child daycare facilities from allowing immigration enforcement personnel to enter nonpublic areas without a valid judicial warrant or subpoena. The bill provides an exception for peace officers responding to violent crimes or threats at polling places.
