AB 2264: District agricultural associations: real property: affordable housing.

California · Assembly · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified May 16, 2026

What AB 2264 does, verified May 16, 2026

This bill amends the Food and Agricultural Code to allow district agricultural associations to engage in the construction and maintenance of affordable housing, including housing for persons and families of low or moderate income. The associations can lease their real property for up to 99 years to entities that meet certain requirements, including renting to H-2A workers. The bill also prohibits the state from providing funding to employers that rent to H-2A workers and requires reimbursement for any state funds used for these purposes. The bill creates a new crime for violating the code and imposes a state-mandated local program.
