AB 2357: Courts: mental health pilot program.
This bill authorizes three counties, including Santa Cruz, to conduct a pilot program for providing mental health services to jurors and alternate jurors after a verdict in a violent felony case. The pilot program will be facilitated by a memorandum of understanding between the counties and the judicial council, which will outline the number of mental health sessions available. The program is intended to provide stress relief and support for jurors who have been exposed to traumatic testimony. The counties will be required to report on the program's outcomes and provide recommendations for improving access to mental health services for jurors. The program will terminate on January 1, 2035.
