AB 2378: California Violence Intervention and Prevention Grant Program.

The bill aims to establish the Office of Community Violence Intervention within the Board of State and Community Corrections. This office will be led by a director appointed by the board and will advise the board on community violence intervention and prevention policies. The office will also provide technical assistance to community violence intervention and prevention organizations and CALVIP grantees. The office will be responsible for administering the CALVIP program, recommending grant awardees to the board, and convening the executive steering committee. The board will reserve at least $1 million annually for the office's administration and promotion of the program's effectiveness. Additionally, the office will produce a report on community violence intervention and prevention every two years, starting in 2028.
