California · Assembly · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified August 15, 2026

What AB 2612 does, verified August 15, 2026

<blockquote> <p>The bill authorizes the California Building Standards Commission to adopt mandatory building standards for qualified plug-in photovoltaic systems starting from the triennial edition of the code adopted after June 1, 2031. These standards would enable such systems to function as an energy source within the electrical circuit of single-family and multiunit residential dwellings, as well as nonresidential developments constructed thereafter. The Department of Housing and Community Development is required to research and develop these building standards in consultation with interested parties and through public participation.</p> </blockquote>
