AB 2769: Adoption Assistance Program: eligibility.

This bill would expand the eligibility of a nonminor to receive adoption assistance program benefits. The nonminor would be eligible if they are 18 years old, under an adoption assistance agreement that became effective before their 16th birthday, and continue to attend high school or vocational training on a full-time basis. The nonminor's eligibility would end when they complete their program or turn 19 years old. The bill would require the state to ensure that funding is available for the nonminor's adoption assistance payments, even if federal funding is unavailable. This bill would impose a state-mandated local program on counties, requiring them to administer the expanded eligibility.
