The bill aims to delay the requirement for automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in youth sports until January 1, 2028. The AEDs no longer need to be administered by medical professionals, but coaches must be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and AED operation. By January 1, 2027, youth sports organizations must have a written emergency response plan that includes the location and procedures for sudden cardiac events. The AEDs must be properly maintained and tested by January 1, 2028.
