AB 394: Public transportation providers.
This bill expands the definition of battery to include any willful and unlawful use of force or violence against a public transportation employee, driver, or passenger, as well as against the employee, provider, or contractor of a public transportation provider. The bill clarifies that "unlawful violence" includes battery committed on public transportation vehicles or against public transportation employees. It also clarifies the definition of an employer for the purpose of seeking a temporary restraining order and injunction for workplace violence. The bill does not require state reimbursement for certain costs associated with implementing the expanded definition of battery.
