AB 409: Open meetings: teleconferences: community college student body associations and student-run organizations.

This bill aims to expand the existing open meeting law to include California community college student body associations and student-run organizations. The law currently allows these groups to use alternate teleconferencing provisions, but this bill would extend this authorization to all community colleges in the California Community Colleges system, including the online community college. The bill would also exempt the online community college from certain requirements, such as having a physical location and meeting a quorum of members. Additionally, the bill would extend the authorization for alternate teleconferencing provisions until January 1, 2030. The bill makes legislative findings to demonstrate the need for protecting the public's right of access to meetings and writings of public officials and agencies.
