AB 421: Immigration enforcement: prohibitions on access, sharing information, and law enforcement collaboration.
This bill would prohibit California law enforcement agencies from collaborating with or providing information to immigration authorities regarding proposed or currently underway immigration enforcement actions within a one-mile radius of certain sensitive locations, including childcare facilities, religious institutions, hospitals, and medical offices. This prohibition would apply to actions that could be or are taking place near these locations. The bill would also require reimbursement for costs mandated by the state if the commission on state mandates determines that the bill contains such costs. The bill would take effect immediately.
