AB 426: Impeding emergency response with drone.
What AB 426 does, verified December 7, 2025
This bill prohibits operating or using drones at the scene of an emergency to impede firefighters, peace officers, medical personnel, military personnel, or other emergency personnel in their duties. The only exception is if the person has a federal operational waiver. The bill allows the attorney general or local attorneys to bring civil action against those who violate the prohibition, and a prevailing plaintiff can recover penalties, injunctive relief, and attorney's fees and costs.
