AB 623: Fire prevention: fuel modification or reduction projects: reports.
This bill is designed to improve fire prevention in California by expanding the authority of the governor to suspend certain regulations during times of emergency. The bill aims to expedite critical fuels reduction projects by allowing the governor to temporarily suspend applicable state statutes and rules. It also requires the California Environmental Protection Agency and the Natural Resources Agency to report to the legislature on the implementation of the emergency proclamation by January 1, 2028. Additionally, the California Coastal Commission will be required to report on fuel modification and reduction projects approved under coastal development permits from 2020 to 2026, as well as other relevant information.
