AB 630: Abandoned recreational vehicles.
This bill authorizes the counties of Alameda and Los Angeles to implement procedures for disposing of abandoned recreational vehicles valued at $4,000 or less. The counties will be allowed to remove the vehicles from public or private property if they are deemed abandoned and inoperable. The public agency responsible for removal will be required to provide authorization and report data on the number of vehicles removed and the number of people found inside prior to removal. If the vehicle is not inoperable or poses a hazard, the agency will be responsible for towing and storage costs. The bill makes the agency responsible for costs incurred if it is determined that the vehicle was not abandoned or was not a hazard to public health, safety, and welfare.
