AB 65: School and community college employees: paid disability and parental leave.
This bill provides paid disability and parental leave for employees in schools and community colleges. It requires employers to offer up to 14 weeks of leave with specified pay benefits for employees who are required to be absent due to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions. The leave can begin before and continue after childbirth if the employee is disabled by pregnancy or childbirth. The employer must maintain group health coverage for the duration of the leave at the same level and conditions as before the leave. The bill prohibits deducting the leave from other leaves and eligibility requirements such as minimum hours worked or length of service.
