California · Assembly · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified December 6, 2025

What AB 677 does, verified December 6, 2025

This bill aims to amend certain sections of the education code to allow the disclosure of directory information of a homeless child or youth for the purpose of facilitating an eye examination or an oral health assessment. The bill would permit the release of directory information of a homeless child or youth to a nonprofit eye examination provider or a school district/county office of education for the purpose of providing eye examinations or oral health assessments. The information disclosed would be limited to the purpose of facilitating the examination or assessment and would not include any other directory information. Reports made to parents about a pupil defect identified from an eye examination or oral health assessment would be made by alternative communication channels whenever possible.
