AB 722: Reentry Housing and Workforce Development Program.
The bill aims to provide grants to individuals with recent histories of incarceration to exit homelessness and remain stably housed. The Department of Housing and Community Development will administer the program, in collaboration with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and counties where recipients operate. Applicants will be scored competitively according to specified criteria, and recipients of funds must use them for long-term rental assistance, incentives to landlords, and innovative services to access permanent supportive housing. The program will require annual reports from recipients and an independent evaluation of outcomes, to be submitted to the legislature.
