AB 90: Public postsecondary education: overnight student parking.
This bill requires community college districts to adopt a plan for an overnight parking program for eligible students, which includes a procedure for issuing free parking permits. The plan must be developed in consultation with basic needs coordinators and campus security. The plan aims to provide priority housing to current and former homeless and foster youth students. Campus security is not liable for injuries to participating students that occur in close proximity to the parking area during operating hours. Community colleges must report information about participating students, including socioeconomic and demographic backgrounds, to the chancellor's office. The chancellor's office must also report on campus programs to the legislature and governor, as part of a report on basic needs services and resources.
