AB 902: Transportation projects: barriers to wildlife movement.

The bill requires a lead agency to incorporate wildlife passage features into a transportation infrastructure project in a connectivity area, where wildlife movement is impaired. This requirement applies to projects that add a traffic lane or significantly impact wildlife connectivity. The bill allows for compensatory mitigation credits to be used to satisfy this requirement, but only if the Department of Fish and Wildlife concurs. The bill also provides reimbursement for costs mandated by the state if the Commission on State Mandates determines that the bill contains such costs.
