AB 927: County superintendent of schools: inspection of public schools.

This bill amends a section of the education code to improve the inspection of public schools. It requires county superintendents of schools to inspect schools identified on a list for which they are responsible. The inspection should prioritize schools without sufficient textbooks and facilities posing an emergency threat to students' health and safety. The inspection should be completed by the 8th week of the school year. County superintendents must also review these schools annually and conduct the review by the 4th week of the school year. Schools with insufficient textbooks or facilities posing an emergency threat should be prioritized within the first 4 weeks of the school year. The bill also requires the state to reimburse local agencies and school districts for costs mandated by the state. It declares that the bill will take effect immediately.
