What AB 993 does, verified December 13, 2025

This bill would make every county with a population of less than 150,000 persons eligible for reimbursement funds for implementing a unified hazardous waste and hazardous materials management regulatory program. The program would provide financial assistance to counties that meet specified requirements. The bill would remove the requirement for counties to apply for certification as a certified unified program agency (CUPA) or the date of certification to be eligible for funds. The program would be funded without regard to the date of certification or the qualification regarding CUPA implementation of the unified program.
