SB 1064: Heavy-Duty Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance Program: testing.

California · Senate · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified August 22, 2026

What SB 1064 does, verified August 22, 2026

This bill aims to modify California's heavy-duty vehicle inspection and maintenance program. The program, currently required to test all nongasoline heavy-duty onroad motor vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of more than 14,000 pounds annually, would be limited to biennial testing. The state would develop and adopt rules to implement this change. Vehicle owners and operators would still need to demonstrate proof of compliance for specified purposes. The program would still require the development of a heavy-duty vehicle inspection and maintenance compliance certificate.
