SB 1076: Admitted insurers: residential property insurance.
This bill adds new regulations to the insurance industry in California. It prohibits admitted insurers from refusing to offer, sell, or renew residential property insurance policies for applicants or insureds with properties that meet minimum home hardening and wildfire mitigation standards, starting January 1, 2028. Insurers can apply for temporary waivers in specific areas of the state. The bill also requires minimum coverage levels for residential property insurance, starting January 1, 2028.
