<p>This bill prohibits schools from requiring kindergarten and transitional kindergarten students to take home school-issued electronic devices starting with the 2027–28 school year. It allows local educational agencies to permit these pupils to take such devices home if they choose. Additionally, the state department of education is required to develop model policies for the age-appropriate use of these devices by July 1, 2027, considering factors like developmentally appropriate screen exposure time.</p>
