What SB 1309 does, verified August 15, 2026

<p>This bill adds sections to the Health and Safety Code and Insurance Code, requiring health care service plan contracts or health insurance policies issued, amended, or renewed after January 1, 2027, to cover follow-up screening or diagnostic services for lung cancer without any copayments, coinsurance, deductibles, or other cost-sharing requirements. Violations of this requirement by health care service plans would be considered a crime.</p>
