SB 464: Employer pay data.

California · Senate · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified December 13, 2025

What SB 464 does, verified December 13, 2025

The bill aims to enhance the enforcement of civil rights laws by requiring private employers with 100 or more employees to submit annual pay data reports. Employers must collect and store demographic information separately from employees' personnel records. The reporting period would expand to include 23 job categories, starting from January 1, 2027. Failure to submit the report would result in a civil penalty, payable to the civil rights enforcement and litigation fund. The court would impose the penalty if requested by the department.
