SB 533: Electric vehicle charging stations: arenas: payments: internet-based applications.
What SB 533 does, verified December 6, 2025
This bill amends the health and safety code to allow electric vehicle charging stations to require payment through an internet-based application if they are located within an arena with a seating capacity of at least 15,000 seats and can only be accessed through the application. Existing law prohibits requiring a subscription fee or membership for access to these stations. The bill also proposes additional changes to the code, but only if it is enacted last and in conjunction with another bill, AB 1423.
