SB 572: Vehicles: advanced driver assistance system: crash reports.
This bill requires a manufacturer of level 2 advanced driver assistance system vehicles to report crashes involving these vehicles to the department of motor vehicles within 5 days if specified conditions are met. The department will then post this crash data on its website, excluding proprietary business information and personally identifiable information. The data will also be transmitted to the national highway traffic safety administration and the national transportation safety board. A civil penalty of $27,874 per violation per day will be imposed on manufacturers that fail to report crashes. The bill will only be operative if a federal order or regulation consistent with the repealed general order is in place.
