SB 640: Public postsecondary education: admission, transfer, and enrollment.
This bill establishes the CSU Direct Admission Program, allowing high school graduates from participating local educational agencies to be directly admitted to a designated California State University campus. The program requires the use of transcript-informed pupil accounts to determine eligibility and will notify eligible pupils of their direct admission through a letter. The bill also extends the Dual Admissions Program, requiring students to complete an Associate Degree for Transfer or another established course of study within 3 academic years at a California community college. Additionally, the bill requires community colleges to promote the program and ensures reimbursement for mandated local costs if the Commission on State Mandates determines the bill contains such costs.
