SB 871: Domestic Violence Prevention Act.

The bill establishes a continuous electronic monitoring system to prevent acts of domestic violence, abuse, and sexual abuse. A court is required to order this monitoring for individuals alleged to have committed domestic violence, including acts involving strangulation or suffocation. The accused is responsible for paying the costs of supervision that utilizes this system. If a violation occurs, the monitoring entity must notify the appropriate law enforcement employee and emergency communications dispatch center. The bill also requires counties and municipalities to enter into written agreements with qualified contract service providers and designate an agency to respond to monitoring violations.
