SB 892: Public postsecondary education: priority registration: members and former members of the Armed Forces of the United States and State Guard.
This bill would amend the education code to grant priority registration for enrollment to members and former members of the armed forces of the United States and the state guard. It would remove the current limit of 4 academic years after leaving active duty for use within 15 years for priority registration. The bill would also require reimbursement for any additional costs imposed on community college districts by this provision. Reimbursement would be made pursuant to the state's mandate reimbursement procedures. The changes would take effect on July 1, 2027.
